I began my education career as a para back when my youngest began Kindergarten. I was a stay at home mom but followed him as a paraprofessional. It was after 3 years in that position I felt called to get my bachelor's in education through Wichita State University. Special Education was a part of my degree as I love helping students, families, and classroom teachers find ways to adapt learning opportunities for all students.
I am currently pursuing my master's degree as an Instructional Specialist and am scheduled to graduate the spring of 2027. I hope to utilize my degree in the future to support other educators to implement data in their instruction effectively. But for now, I am looking forward to year 5 of teaching special education and supporting students!
My husband, our two boys, and I have lived in Mulvane since 2011. We are happy to call Mulvane our home and love the close, family-oriented, and small town feel. My love for our town also affects my approach to teaching. A favorite part of my position is building connections with students and their families. Each year my goal for my students overall is building confidence and independence. Helping students understand they can do hard things and persevere is something they can use their whole lives.
Some of my favorite hobbies are reading historical fiction and psychological thrillers. I also enjoy walks outside, cooking and playing board games with my family.
