Welcome to Art
I am so excited to be teaching Art this year! I believe that art is in the eye of the beholder. Though I will be teaching your child about the elements of art, about different artists, and about different types of art; my ultimate goal is for them to understand that art is about creating, exploring, trying new things, and enjoying the process along the way. It is my belief that many kids and adults alike, use various forms of art for stress management, enjoyment, and managing emotions. I hope to instill some new "tools in your child's toolbox" for them to use and enjoy throughout their lives.
A Little About Me:
This is my 16th year of teaching, and my 10th year of teaching here in Mulvane. I taught First Grade in Derby for three years, First Grade in Plano,Texas for three years, and then I stayed home with my kids for 11 years. After staying home with my kids for a while, I came back to teach Kindergarten at Munson for 7 years, and now I am teaching Art! I grew up in Mulvane, and I was happy to come back to teach here. I graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and an Endorsement in Early Childhood. My husband and I have three children...a son and daughter in college, and a son who is a Freshman at MHS.
