Mulvane Middle School
Mulvane Middle School has a strong tradition of academic excellence as well as its successful athletic programs . MMS has an enrollment of 431 students, with an average class size of 20 students per teacher. MMS received the "Standard of Excellence" in both reading and math on the State Assessments over the past few years. The middle school has also earned multiple league competitions.
MMS offers educational, enrichment and extra curricular opportunities to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. A school-wide program called Lion's Quest is used during an Advisement period four days a week. To all students the program addresses making good choices, anti-bullying, goal setting, service learning and good citizenship. At the 8th grade level the teachers help guide students in the same areas along with assisting students as they prepare for high school and career planning.
Along with the core academic subjects, our 6th grade students are offered PE, health, art, music appreciation, technology, and study skills. Students may volunteer to be involved in the experience of concert band. Students may sign up to join RAD (Responsible and Drug-free), Student Council, and the Junior Rowdy Crowd!! If students want the opportunity to participate in organized athletics such as volleyball, basketball, and soccer, our local recreation commission is available for them to join a team. Mulvane also has very popular Junior Wrestling and Junior football programs.
Our 7th and 8th grade students are also offered a variety of opportunities. The four core subjects are available to them along with art, computer, choir, band, careers, creative writing, newspaper, yearbook, study skills math enrichment and more. Algebra,Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology, woods are additional classes offered to 8th grade students. Extra curricular activities offered to students include Cheerleading, Student Council, RAD and the Junior Rowdy Crowd!!
Mulvane Middle School is part of the Pioneer League. There are many ways 7th and 8th grade students can participate in opportunities after school through our membership with the league. The league offers competitive organized athletics with students in other districts. The athletic opportunities include: football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling and track. In the academic arena students participate in competitions of Scholar's Bowl, Math Relays, Spelling Bee, and both instrumental and vocal music competitions and festivals.
