Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!! I'm excited to be teaching 6th grade English/Language Arts this year! I love teaching here at MMS and am looking forward to an exciting new school year! When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family; Morgan (my husband), Morgan, my son, and his wife Chelsea, Madison, my daughter, and her husband Zach, and Mason, my son. I also keep busy with Mason's baseball (he's a pitcher for Emporia State University GO HORNETS!!), loving on my puppies, going to Flea Markets with my husband, and crafting. As of December 7th, I now enjoy spending most of my free time loving my new granddaughter, Hayden Renee.

Time is flying by!!  We have about a month left until these 6th graders are 7th graders! Most of our assignments will be in Google Classroom this 9 weeks, so if you are interested in what your student is doing, have them show you. This week we will finish up our Informative Writing assignment over the sinking of the RMS Titanic and then prepare to start our novel study. I am changing things up a bit from what we did on our last novel, so make sure you ask your student about it. As always, please encourage your child to read as much as possible when he/she can. Children that read are shown to have higher intelligence and general knowledge, less stress, better fluency, improved analytical thinking, broader vocabulary, better memory and increased writing skills.
