Math Relays

Math Relays is a Patriot League competition that occurs once every school year. You must be in 7th or 8th grade to
participate. Several weeks before the competition, there will be an announcement from Ms. Fenn and Ms. Wing on the specific date that tryouts will be held. They will go from after school until 4 p.m. and include a diagnostic test that covers a variety of mathematical concepts. Based on the test results, the top 5 students from EACH grade will be invited to compete for MMS.

On the day of the event, we generally leave during 7th hour and return around 7 or 7:30 p.m., depending on where the competition is held that year. Each student will take 2 (45 minute) tests, one over problem-solving and one over computation, with a short break between. Calculators are allowed only on the problem-solving test. Both individual and team medals are awarded after all tests have been graded.

If you enjoy math and want to compete for your school and grade level, this is the competition for you!
